DMGrid is an independent product, not affiliated with these platforms or Wizards of the Coast. - MITHOS (https://store.steampowered.com/app/3990740/Mithos/): system-agnostic modular offline toolkit; one-time purchase with local storage, player-facing screens, and a configurable sheet builder on Windows, macOS, and Linux. DMGrid fit: a focused 5E workflow with campaign, maps, characters, board, initiative, and notes connected. Current limitation: DMGrid is in Windows beta and its player display is still planned. - Foundry VTT (https://foundryvtt.com/): self-hosted multi-system virtual tabletop; one-time purchase with no subscription, APIs and community modules, players joining through a browser. DMGrid fit: a local 5E campaign-to-combat flow without hosting a player server. Current limitation: no online multiplayer or module extensibility parity. - Arkenforge (https://arkenforge.com/tv-table-software/): player screen with fog of war and map tools for TV tabletop play, offline after the first login, with animated media support. DMGrid fit: a connected 5E campaign archive plus tactical board work in one offline application. Current limitation: player view and fog of war are planned, not available. - Roll20 (https://roll20.net/): browser-based online tabletop with a free tier and optional paid plans, sheets, dice, licensed content, and group-play tools across many systems. DMGrid fit: an offline 5E desk for in-person Dungeon Masters who keep campaigns locally. Current limitation: no browser-based online room or content marketplace. - World Anvil (https://www.worldanvil.com/features/dnd-campaign-manager): deep worldbuilding tools alongside session prep, an online GM screen, dice, sheets, and stat blocks. DMGrid fit: a local campaign-to-combat flow for running 5E at the table. Current limitation: not a lore encyclopedia or publishing platform. - LegendKeeper (https://www.legendkeeper.com/): linked wiki, maps, and collaboration with offline editing that syncs later; owner editing uses a subscription, with exports available. DMGrid fit: an offline-first 5E archive connected to the tactical board. Current limitation: no shared online collaboration. - D&D Beyond (https://dndbeyond-support.wizards.com/hc/en-us/articles/46385529638164-Combat-Encounters-on-Maps): official digital companion for characters, rules, and content, with Maps that can populate encounters from tokens and track initiative. DMGrid fit: an independent offline desk connecting preparation and combat for 5E tables. Current limitation: no licensed official content. - Campaign Manager (https://store.steampowered.com/app/4136790/Campaign_Manager/): offline planner by Kamoly LLC with no subscription; connected encounters, regions, and maps, SRD assets with combat evaluation, and broad world, adventure, and puzzle planning. DMGrid fit: a connected 5E campaign-to-combat flow with board, initiative, and notes in one offline archive. Current limitation: in beta, without its broader puzzle and adventure planning. - Kanka (https://kanka.io/features): characters, places, maps, calendars, and relationships to organise a world collaboratively. DMGrid fit: local 5E preparation connected to the combat board. Current limitation: no collaborative online wiki. DMGrid is not intended for people who need a public worldbuilding encyclopedia, a complete online multiplayer room, or a broad ecosystem of automation and modules. ## Roadmap (planned, not shipped, no dates) Priorities may change. Buying today buys the beta as it is. - Phase 1 (planned first): Player View on a second display, manual fog of war, distance ruler, circle/cone/square spell area templates, hide/show tokens to players, DM-only elements. - Phase 2 (planned next): map drawing, map ping, prepared fog regions, UVTT map import, animated/WebM maps, public initiative display. - Phase 3 (planned later): feedback-driven UX improvements, allowed SRD content and import with attribution, session tools, demo and Steam distribution as plans. - Exploring later (possibilities, not commitments): macOS/Linux versions, other game systems, optional API/plugins/content expansion. - Not on the roadmap: video calls, chat, internet multiplayer, AI generators, 3D, dynamic lights, marketplace. ## Purchase and download - Buy: accept the beta terms, then buy through the secure hosted checkout. After a successful purchase the Windows installer download starts and the license key is sent to the email address used at checkout. - Download: the direct download also requires accepting the beta terms first. The installer requires a purchased license key entered in the app; it is not a free demo. ## Important conditions DMGrid is not a finished product. Features, design, workflows, and formats may change, be replaced, or disappear. Development may slow down, pause, or end; a purchase does not guarantee future versions, indefinite support, or a final release date. All names, text, maps, characters, and values shown on the website or in its videos are fictional demonstration data. The landing page does not use production data or the DMGrid database. ## Discovery - Full information: https://dmgrid.ilicilabs.com/llms-full.txt - AI information: https://dmgrid.ilicilabs.com/ai.txt - Agent discovery: https://dmgrid.ilicilabs.com/.well-known/agents.json - Sitemap: https://dmgrid.ilicilabs.com/sitemap.xml
